The vehicles are called the Rail District Boxcar, and the service is free, according to a city news release. The service is available within the rail district and has 13 stops stretching from World Cup Way to North County Road between Main and Elm streets.

The two cars that can seat up to six operate 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.
“When we began the downtown revitalization project, we removed on street parking on Main Street in an effort to widen sidewalks and improve walkability,” said Brian Moen, assistant director for Engineering Services, in the release. “As we worked to make downtown more pedestrian friendly, we’re piloting this transportation service to provide our residents and visitors convenient, easy access to our downtown merchants."
Riders can use the service for free, with the vehicle running every 10 minutes. The transit fleet will include an Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible electric shuttle, with a five-passenger minivan available on reserve for special events.
At their April 21 meeting, Frisco City Council members approved a $388,000 contract with Via Transportation to operate a pilot circulator service in the Rail District.
The pilot program will run for 12 months, with an option to extend the service.
