Baylor Scott & White Health is one step closer to building a new medical facility at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and PGA Parkway near the PGA of America headquarters in Frisco.
At a July 5 meeting, the Frisco City Council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning request that changes the 47.4-acre property from retail and industrial to Office-2.
“Obviously, any time we can get expansion of medical uses in this capacity, it is always a big win for the citizens of Frisco and the region,” Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said during the council meeting.
The Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved city staff’s recommendation for rezoning during a June 14 meeting. The change will facilitate a multistory health care building. Retail zoning allows for a hospital but caps building height at two stories, and industrial zoning allows for unlimited building height but will not facilitate a hospital, according to the city's zoning ordinance.
