Colberg, Rummel sworn in as Frisco City Council members

Laura Rummel and Brittney Colberg were sworn in as Frisco City Council members at a May 19 meeting.

The gist

Rummel was sworn in to the Place 5 seat, which she previously held. Rummel was first elected in 2022 to fill an unexpired term for the seat, and has since been elected two more times serve in the same seat.

Colberg replaces former council member Brian Livingston, who reached his term limit after first being elected in 2017.

How we got here

Rummel and Colberg won their respective elections May 2.

Rummel won the Place 5 race with 14,762 votes, or 66%. Vijay Karthik received 5,412 votes, or 24%, while Sreekanth Reddy garnered 2,253 votes, or 10%.

In the Place 6 race, Colberg received 12,754 votes, or 57%, while Matt Chalmers garnered 4,171 votes, or 19%. Sai Krishnarajanagar has received 3,544 votes, or 16%, and Jerry Spencer has received 1,798 votes, or 8%.

What they’re saying

Rummel said she’s looking to maintain the culture, compassion and spirit of community in Frisco in her next term on council.

“It has been an absolute pleasure to serve here in Frisco for the last four years, and thank you for giving me another three to serve you,” Rummel said. “This is a community that I dearly love.”

Colberg said she is excited to continue her civil service in a new format as a council member after spending the last eight years on the Frisco’s Planning and Zoning Commission.

“I want to thank you all for putting your trust in me,” Colberg said.

One more thing

Frisco voters will also decide the city’s next mayor in a June 13 runoff election between candidates Rod Vilhauer and Mark Hill.

Jeff Cheney is the current mayor of Frisco and cannot run again for reelection after reaching his term limit.
