1. Plano officials to consider property tax increase based on 5-year financial forecast
As budget season begins, Plano officials are considering the city’s long-term financial health in their assessment of possible property tax rate increases. On top of expected inflation, new expenses related to staffing and operating a number of facilities being built in the next five years will require increased spending from the city’s general fund, per city officials. This budget season, council members will consider whether to increase property tax rates to meet those additional spending needs.

2. Prosper tables new retail at Dallas Parkway, Frontier Parkway for third time
After several months of discussion, plans for new retail and office space proposed at the intersection of Dallas Parkway and Frontier Parkway are still under review. The 34.6-acre property is currently planned to include a mix of restaurants and retail, including a pharmacy with a drive-thru, office space, and smaller retail and restaurant buildings.

3. McKinney ISD officials predict $7.5M budget shortfall for FY 2026-27
A financial outlook for McKinney ISD's fiscal year 2026-27 shows a potential $7.5 million budget shortfall, district officials said. In predicting the 2026-27 budget, officials factored in a 4% increase in property tax values and a 3% of mid-point pay increase for staff.

4. $3B Railhead development plans under review in Frisco
Plans for a multibillion-dollar development in northwest Frisco are moving forward with a few adjustments. The Railhead, an 80-acre mixed-use development, remains in progress as developers work through final site details. Developers broke ground on the 80-acre project in 2022. The Railhead is planned to include multifamily housing, office space, retail, restaurants and a hotel.

6. Cascadia Pizza Co. chooses Frisco for first Texas location
Cascadia Pizza Co. is scheduled to open the business’ first Texas location in Frisco, a company representative said. The eatery, which was founded in 2015 in Washington, specializes in wood-fired pizzas. In addition to pizza, salads, wings and dessert pies are also served.
