A mosquito pool near North County Road and south of Eldorado Parkway tested positive for West Nile virus, marking Frisco's 25th positive pool this season.
The city began testing for mosquitos May 1 in accordance with Frisco’s mosquito surveillance and response plan. There have been no confirmed cases of West Nile virus in humans in Frisco this year, according to a release from the city.
In response to the positive pool, a third-party contractor will treat parts of the Meadow Hill Estates and Frisco Springs neighborhoods this weekend. Contractors will begin spraying at 9 p.m. on Aug. 20 and finish at 5 a.m. on Aug. 21. The same schedule will apply to Aug. 21 through 5 a.m. on Aug. 22.
"We urge residents to be vigilant about following the ‘wear, apply and remove’ guidelines," Environmental Health Supervisor Julie Fernande said in a June news release.
