Youth TED event coming to Frisco in late February

Leadership Prep School is the next host of a TED event in Frisco for youth with TEDxYouth@LPS.

The charter school located in Frisco is bringing the student-led, independently organized TED event to Elevate Life Church on Teel Parkway on Feb. 29 beginning at 9 a.m. Speakers ranging from second- to 12th-grade students at Leadership Prep School will speak on the topic “evolve.”

“Our students have spent almost a year since initially applying for the TEDxYouth license, organizing the event—using their creativity and imagination,” said Tony Curtis, the TEDxYouth@LPS faculty adviser, in a press release. “I’m proud of the work they’ve accomplished and excited to hear from those students who were chosen to speak.”

This comes over a month since Frisco’s first independently organized TED event at the Black Box Theater.

Attendees of the Feb. 29 event can sample culinary creations from local business owners during, before and after the talks. There will also be hands-on robotics experiences presented by the Leadership Prep robotics department.

Tickets are open to the public for $10, but there are only 100 tickets available for the main event. There will be a watch party for $5 in the same building on a livestream.
