Frisco ISD board member Rene Archambault says she will not run for re-election

Archambault said she had the honor of witnessing FISD’s growth, such as building new campuses during her time on the board. She mentioned growing programs, including the National Naval Defense Cadet Corp and the International Baccalaureate program, as successes.

“There have been a lot of accomplishments for our district, and there have been a lot of challenges we’ve had to get through,” Archambault said.

Taking on the COVID-19 pandemic was another significant point during her terms, she said. Archambault credits FISD Superintendent Mike Waldrip and his team for the success of students during the pandemic. The district was able to help students with educational needs, and general needs with food and other services, as well as provide incentive payments for staff who were working longer hours, she said.

“All of that coming together was incredibly powerful,” Archambault said. “We continue to work as a district to make sure that the learning they did is accounted for, and we are working with resources now to make sure that remediation is happening for our kids.”

The filing period for the May 4 election is Jan. 17-Feb. 16. Information on eligibility, application requirements and the board election can be found on Frisco ISD’s website.
