CAMPUS BREAKDOWN: Over half of Frisco ISD students committed to virtual learning in fall

Over half of Frisco ISD students have opted into all-virtual learning for the start of the 2020-21 school year, according to recent results from a district commitment form.

FISD reopened the window for parents to choose their child's preferred learning environment for the fall between July 27-30. The form initially opened between June 29-July 14.

The first three weeks of FISD's school year will be all-virtual, and students signed up for face-to-face learning will resume instruction in schools Sept. 3.

As of the July 30 results, over 50% of students are signed up for Virtual Academy, nearly 45% of students are signed up for face-to-face learning, 4.50% gave no response and less than 1% are pursuing options outside of the district.

Commitment to Virtual Academy saw the greatest increase since the June 29-July 14 selection window as compared to face-to-face learning.

For the elementary level overall, nearly 41% of students are committed to face-to-face learning and nearly 55% to Virtual Academy, according to the most recent data.

Overall middle school results show nearly 44% are committed to face-to-face and around 51% to Virtual Academy, per the data.

Almost 51% of high school students overall are committed to face-to-face and around 44% to Virtual Academy, per the data.

Parents will have another opportunity to change their child's learning environment Oct. 16.
