Funky Munky to offer gourmet shaved ice at year-round south Frisco location

Funky Munky Shaved Ice will open as a year-round, brick-and-mortar stand in the first week of June, location owner Melanie Miller said.

The shaved ice franchise offers gourmet flavor combinations, including a pineapple upside-down cake snow cone with pineapple chunks and a brown sugar reduction. Another option is a strawberry cheesecake snow cone topped with a cheesecake slice, whipped topping, graham cracker crumbs and strawberry drizzle.

“It’s every flavor you can imagine, plus we do a bunch of gourmet flavors,” Miller said. “It’s a shaved ice experience.”

Miller, who also operates a seasonal Funky Munky Shaved Ice food truck in McKinney, said the Frisco location will feature a walk-up and drive-thru counter for guests to come and go. There will not be any inside or outside seating available, but it will be surrounded by parks, churches and schools.

“It's directly across the street from Shawnee Trail Park, which is a huge advantage because there's so much that goes on there,” Miller said.
