1. Shady’s Burgers & Brewhaha offers burgers, more in Frisco
Shady’s Burgers & Brewhaha, a casual American burger restaurant and patio bar, has opened a new location in Frisco.
The newest Shady’s location will serve visitors directly on the waterfront of Hidden Cove Marina on the east side of Lewisville Lake.
Shady’s Burgers & Brewhaha was founded in 2013 by friends Greg Cooney, Don Bouvier, Anthony Bolner, Dave Swiney and Steve Gumbert in Richardson.
The menu features a variety of burgers, tacos, salads, sandwiches, wraps and a full beer and cocktail menu. Also available are milkshakes, non-alcoholic beverages, a full kids' menu, monthly specials and side dishes.
Diners can arrive by boat and dock at the restaurant or drive in by car.
2. Granny’s Bakery debuts pastry-themed coffee bar in downtown Celina
Granny’s Bakery in downtown Celina has overhauled its drink offerings with a new coffee bar, owner Mikala Everson said.
The coffee bar is an upgrade from the bakery’s previous selection of self-serve coffee, she said.
This summer’s seasonal drink is a lemon pound cake latte, Everson said. Other bakery-inspired flavors on the coffee bar’s permanent menu include banana bread, birthday cake, cinnamon roll and cookie butter.
3. Yo! Bowl Chinese noodle house now open in Plano
The Carrollton-based restaurant Yo! Bowl has opened its second location in Plano.
Yo! Bowl has customizable bowls with mifen, a traditional southwest Chinese rice noodle, per previous reporting. Customers can choose their preferred broth, protein, vegetables, toppings and spice level.
The restaurant’s first location opened in 2024, according to its website. Other menu items include rice bowls, appetizers like cucumber salad and scallion pancake and homemade yogurt desserts.
Owner Xinran Xu said the Plano location had its soft opening in late July.
4. Hocco The Indian Kitchen now open in Frisco
Hocco The Indian Kitchen opened in May off Preston Road in Frisco.
A company representative said in an email that the restaurant aims to bring “the authentic flavors of India to the United States through a modern fast-casual dining experience.”
Hocco is backed by the Chona family, “one of India's most respected names in the food industry, whose journey began eight decades ago and has grown across three generations of serving exceptional food with uncompromising quality,” the representative said. The brand has grown and diversified to include restaurants, cafes, ice creams and ready-to-eat foods to serve customers across the globe.

5. Tick Tock Taco to serve ‘globally inspired’ fusion tacos in Colleyville
Fast casual concept Tick Tock Taco plans to open its second location in Colleyville later this year.
The restaurant sells “globally inspired” fusion tacos, said Anum Khan, co-owner and operator of Tick Tock Taco. The menu includes options such as a hot teriyaki chicken taco, a beef bulgogi taco and a firecracker shrimp taco. All tacos on the menu are made with Halal and organic ingredients, according to the website. For dessert, diners can also order from a selection of churros provided by Churro on Top.

6. DFW Restaurant Week celebrates 30th anniversary
More than 150 restaurants throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area will take part in the 30th annual DFW Restaurant Week.
The event officially runs from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7, however, some restaurants will do a preview weekend Aug. 6-9, according to the DFW Restaurant Week website.
The culinary event will feature prix fixe menu dining options ranging from $29 to $99, with 20% of the cost donated to the North Texas Food Bank or Lena Pope in Tarrant County. Lena Pope offers mental health options, counseling, substance abuse counseling and early learning centers, according to its website.
Restaurant Week launches Aug. 10-16, but many restaurants will extend the special menu through Labor Day, according to the website.
Participating eateries are located in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton and Rockwall counties.
