The city of Frisco is planning a new environmental collection center.
During its Oct. 6 meeting, the Frisco City Council approved a consent agenda item to convey 10.3 acres for a new environmental collection center, which will include three buildings, parking and recycling and processing facilities.
What to know
Open since 2001, the city of Frisco’s current environmental collection center is located at 6616 Walnut St. and helps residents recycle and dispose of specialty items, electronics and household hazardous items.
The city of Frisco will construct a new environmental collection center consisting of an approximately 12,340-square-foot administration building that will house office space, staff support areas and meeting rooms.
The center will also include an approximately 10,800-square-foot household hazardous waste and operations building and an approximately 6,300-square-foot recycling and processing building, along with parking improvements and additional site infrastructure improvements.
Additional details
City documents do not include a construction cost estimate or contractor for the new environmental collection center, nor do they outline plans for the existing center once the new facility is completed.
The Frisco Environmental Collection Center accepts a variety of waste products, including automotive fluids, household chemicals, light bulbs, computers and monitors, televisions and small electronics, along with metal and freon-containing appliances.
