The city of Frisco will hold a grand opening celebration for Fourth Street Plaza Oct. 13.
During a Sept. 1 meeting, the Frisco City Council heard updates on the project, which is clearing its final stage. The project is the last major construction milestone for Frisco’s Rail District.

Frisco’s Fourth Street Plaza will serve as an outdoor community gathering space between Elm and Main streets. According to the city website, the plaza will feature covered seating and tables, public art, Rail District gateway monuments, a restroom, a stage and a lawn with open seating.

The roadwork and parking garage were recently completed. The Rail District project included the removal of on-street parking along Main Street and the widening of sidewalks.
Frisco Parks and Recreation Capital Projects Manager Ricardo Sanchez said the project’s construction is complete and the facility is open to the public, but furniture still needs to be installed.
“I’m thrilled that it’s finally open, [it's] a long time coming,” Frisco Mayor Pro Tem Laura Rummel said. “I have heard from multiple people that it’s so much bigger than what they anticipated, and that they were really impressed with the space.”
Zooming out
The Fourth Street Plaza was originally scheduled to open in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but city officials said completing construction on Main Street and opening the downtown parking garage put it behind schedule.
Sanchez said sunrise yoga events have been planned for Sept. 12, 19 and 26 for the Fourth Street Plaza performance stage, with the grand opening planned for Oct. 13.
