Frisco City Council will hold a public hearing on a proposal to allow the city to distribute $374,362 in emergency funds from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act during its regular meeting May 5.
The proposed amendment to the City of Frisco Consolidated Plan would allow the city to receive and administer the Community Development Block Grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The money would be used on public service projects, according to a city memo. Several nonprofits submitted comments in late April on ways the funds could help with various COVID-19 related issues.
The city’s Social Services and Housing Board, which typically handles the CDBG funds, has not been able to meet about the emergency funding because local board and commission meetings have been postponed since Frisco's public health emergency was declared on March 16.
The council’s 4 p.m. work session and 5 p.m. regular meeting will both be open to the public in the council chambers at the George A. Purefoy Municipal Center.
