The city of Frisco held a town hall meeting Monday at City Hall. A lot of the topics that were discussed dealt with the new self-driving cars that will be deployed in July as well as transportation and development updates. Frisco residents were able to call in with questions or ask questions live online.

Self-driving cars

Moen said according to studies 94 percent of car accidents are due to human error. "We're looking at technology to put a dent in that 94 percent."

Transportation

Question: What are the plans to widen Coit Road?

Moen said the plans to widen Coit Road have already began to widen the roadway from 4 lanes to 6 lanes from SH 121 to Main Street. Design is expected to finish in the second quarter of 2019 and construction to start in the third quarter.

Moen also said the intersection of Main Street and Legacy Drive will be closed for about six weeks starting June 30 through Aug. 10 as work continues to widen the roadway to six lanes and install a water line.

Mayor Jeff Cheney said the city has spoken to developer Stan Thomas who says he is working on his finances and he expects construction to start again on the Wade Park development in the coming months.
