Trotter Park in Flower Mound sits empty at the moment, with just a sign out front.
Flower Mound officials are seeking the public’s input on what amenities the park should have.
Town officials have started the design process for Trotter Park, according to a town news release. The undeveloped 13.11-acre park property is located at 4551 Cross Timbers Road. Officials hope the park will provide outdoor recreational opportunities to the community and enhance residents’ quality of life.
The details
A town hall meeting to provide information to the public will be held in early January, but no date has been set. Details about the meeting will be released soon on the town’s website and social media.
For now, residents are encouraged to take a survey about the park, which can be found here. The five- to seven-minute survey asks respondents what park amenities they want and events or activities they would like to be offered. The survey is available through Jan. 12, according to survey details.

The park site was originally slated as a potential tennis center, but voters rejected the proposal during the May election.
Parks and Recreation Director Chuck Jennings said in an email the park could feature common park amenities, such as a pavilion, sport courts, a playground and a trail.
“We look forward to hearing what the residents desire for this park,” he said.
Only the master plan, which is expected to be finished next summer, has been funded for the park so far.
“The consultant will provide a cost estimate as part of their scope, and funding for the design and construction will mostly be paid using 4B funds or park development funds,” he said.

Town staff and design consultant MHS Planning & Design launched the dedicated website to keep residents informed about the project’s status. Updates will be posted regularly.
Jennings said it is too early to give dates on construction schedules and an opening date.
“Design could be as early as [fiscal year 2024-2025], with construction the following year,” he said in the email.
Town officials ultimately want a well-thought-out, high-quality community park that is easy to access and offers many amenities that cater to a wide audience, he said.
