Flower Mound officials are urging the Lewisville Independent School District Board of Trustees to keep a local elementary school open until after the 89th Legislature meets.
The details
At the Dec. 2 meeting, council members unanimously approved a resolution asking LISD officials to postpone their decision on whether to close Garden Ridge Elementary until after the upcoming legislative session when more funds might be injected into the state’s public education system.
The resolution asks LISD trustees to consider the impact that closing the school will have on teachers, children and their families, particularly special education students. It also directs the trustees to consider all other alternatives to keep the school open, as well as the impacts to neighboring campuses if Garden Ridge is closed.
