2 parks in Flower Mound close until further notice

Two parks have closed in Flower Mound until further notice due to flood waters.

Murrell Park and Twin Coves Park closures were announced June 8 by the Flower Mound Police Department on Facebook. Murrell Park is located at 880 Simmons Road, and Twin Coves Park is located at 5001 Wichita Trail.

Police asked that people not park on the side of Simmons Road or Wichita Trail, and avoid trying to enter either park. Police said they have already been called to one accident in the area.

Twin Coves Park is operated by the town, and Murrell Park is overseen by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

On May 28, Flower Mound town officials announced severe weather prompted closure of Twin Coves Park due to power loss, downed trees and limbs, and rising Grapevine Lake water levels.
