Several candidates have filed for local offices as of the end of the filing period at 5 p.m. Feb. 13.
Election day for the local races is May 2.
What you need to know
Two Flower Mound Town Council positions, Place 2 and Place 5, will be on the ballot. Place 2 incumbent Chris Drew has filed for re-election and is running unopposed.
Place 5 has three candidates: Clare Harris, Ethan Mitchell and Susan Cox, who are running for the seat held by council member Ann Martin, who is termed out. Flower Mound council members are elected at-large to three-year terms.
There are four Highland Village City Council seats that are up for election: Place 1, mayor; Place 2; Place 4; and Place 6. Highland Village council members are elected at-large to two-year terms. Current Mayor Charlotte Wilcox, who represents Place 1, is running unopposed for re-election.
Place 2 council member Jon Kixmiller is termed out after four consecutive two-year terms. Hogan Heathington and Misty Sedillo have filed for Place 2.
Place 4 council member Shawn Nelson is running unopposed. Place 6 council member Robert Fiester is also termed out, and former Mayor Daniel Jaworski is running against Lorri Hill for the position.
Argyle Town Council has three places up for election: Place 1, Place 3 and Place 5. Place 1 incumbent Gustav Svehla, Place 3 incumbent Chad Boyd and Place 5 incumbent Cynthia Hermann are all running unopposed. Argyle council members are elected at-large to two-year terms.
Argyle voters will also decide on two propositions: a rededication of 0.5% of local sales tax toward street maintenance, and increasing council member and mayor terms from two years to three years.

Two Lewisville ISD trustee positions, Place 4 and Place 5, are up for election May 2. Both trustees will come from single-member districts within LISD and will serve three-year terms.
Paige Dixon is the only Place 4 candidate who filed, as of the 5 p.m. deadline. Place 5, which includes Flower Mound, has two candidates filed: current Place 7 trustee Staci Barker and Brian Pollard.
Argyle ISD has three positions up for election, each of which is elected at-large to a three-year term. Place 1, currently held by Craig Hawkesworth, the board vice president, has one candidate, Justin Ford, who is running unopposed.
Place 2 incumbent Leigh Ann Artho is the only candidate who filed before the deadline. Place 3 held by Sam Slaton, the board president, has one candidate, Frank Dixon, who is running unopposed.
Looking ahead
The last day to register to vote in the May 2 election is April 2, according to the Texas Secretary of State’s website. Early voting for the election will run from April 20-28, and election day is May 2.
