Lewisville ISD could change start, end times for 2026-27 school year

Miller said the district may also add 10 minutes to the school day to give the district additional minutes for bad weather days and to give staff more time for work and professional development and planning.

If district officials approve swapping the middle and high school start times, the school times will be:

• Elementary: 7:45 a.m.-3 p.m.
• Elementary STEM: 7:45 a.m.- 3:10 p.m.
• Middle: 8:20 a.m.-3:35 p.m.
• High: 8:55 a.m.-4:10 p.m.

• All elementary: 7:40 a.m.-3:05 p.m.
• Middle: 8:15 a.m.-3:40 p.m.
• High: 8:50 a.m.-4:15 p.m.

During the calendar discussion, Superintendent Lori Rapp said district staff calculated the cost of adding two staff work days. Extending the contracts would cost the district between $2.5-$3.1 million, depending on how many employees receive contract extensions, but the item was presented for informational purposes, not board consideration.

Trustees will vote on the start time and schedule changes at the Jan. 12 board meeting.
