Argyle ISD trustees cancel May 3 election

The Argyle ISD school board unanimously voted to cancel the May 3 election as incumbents Matt Slaton and Josh Westrom were unopposed after filing closed Feb. 14.

Place 6 incumbent Slaton and Place 7 incumbent Westrom filed for re-election this May for the AISD school board, according to the district website.

Slaton currently serves as the board secretary and has been an AISD trustee since 2022. Westrom has also served on the school board since 2022 and previously served on the Argyle Education Foundation board of directors.

No other candidates filed for election to challenge the incumbents, therefore trustees voted to cancel the election and both candidates will retain their positions for another three-year term by default. Trustees approved the measure at a special meeting March 3.
