Gordon Butler has been named as Lake Travis High School’s new principal, according to a Lake Travis ISD press release.
Butler was selected from the 89 applications and 12 candidates the school district received and interviewed, LTISD Superintendent Brad Lancaster said in the release.
Butler, a native of Fort Dix, New Jersey, has 15 years of experience in public education and comes to Lake Travis High School from McKinney High School, where he served as assistant principal, director of program evaluation and principal, the release said.
The new principal has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations from the University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s degree in educational administration from Texas A&M Commerce, the release said.
School and district officials plan to hold a meet-and-greet with Butler and the Lake Travis community “in the near future,” the release said. Butler will begin his new role July 1.
“Lake Travis High School is recognized across Texas and the nation for its high academic achievement and remarkable extracurricular programs,” Lancaster said in the release. “Our stellar reputation is directly attributed to our highly-qualified staff, talented students, and unparalleled parental and community support. I firmly believe Mr. Butler is the perfect choice to lead Lake Travis High School to even greater heights.”
