Denton has seen several updates to the local hospital systems in or near the city, including new programs and certifications.

Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital - Denton
The Denton location has 22 inpatient beds, the largest program for open-heart surgery in the region and received three of three stars from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons for quality and patient outcomes in its most recent rankings, according to the hospital’s website.
The hospital focuses on select cardiovascular procedures and advanced care, according to its website. Some of those procedures include cardiac catheterization, imaging, surgery, rehabilitation and vascular and endovascular surgeries.
Medical City Denton
The Level II Trauma Center earned an “A” designation from The Leapfrog Group for the 20th consecutive time, according to a May 6 news release. Only 11 hospitals nationwide have earned an “A” 20 consecutive times. Leapfrog assigns A-F grades to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
Medical City Denton is a 228-bed, acute-care hospital that is also an accredited chest pain center offering advanced open-heart surgery. The hospital has more than 1,100 physicians employed, according to its website.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton
Texas Health Denton was recognized in March for earning its Primary Stroke Center certification from Joint Commission and the American Heart Association, stating the hospital has the highest national standards for safe, high-quality stroke care, according to its website.
Texas Health Denton uses the latest technology to better diagnose and treat strokes, its website states. The specialized team includes an emergency department physician, a neurologist, ED nurses, emergency medical technicians, a computed tomograph technologist, a phlebotomist, lab technicians and a pharmacist.
