Denton City Council approved about $18.8 million to support city services and facilities at a June 16 council meeting. Check out three city spending packages approved by city officials.
Plumbing maintenance and repairs
City council approved a $3.3 million contract with Denton-based plumbing and HVAC contractor CBS Mechanical Services. City documents state the company will perform repairs and maintenance on the plumbing system for all city-owned buildings, including libraries, recreation centers, police stations, fire stations and city halls.
The agreement will take effect in fiscal year 2026-27 and city officials have the option to renew each year through FY 2030-31.
Vehicle maintenance
City Council approved a $14.7 million contract with New Braunfels-based Rush Truck Centers for maintenance and repairs for the city’s trucks. Council documents show the contract includes work for 115 trucks across multiple city departments, including solid waste, wastewater and streets.
The contract comes with an option to renew each year through 2030.
Firefighting equipment
Council also approved about $1.05 million for maintenance and purchases for self-contained breathing apparatuses, or SCBAs, for the fire department. The SCBAs allow fire fighters to breathe safe air from a tank and face mask in toxic and hazardous environments, council documents state.
The contract is in effect for three years, with two optional years to renew. Each year of the contract includes $70,000 for maintenance and $125,000 for new SCBAs, according to council documents.
