With fall right around the corner, kids and families can celebrate heading back to school with the Back to School Bash at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center, and college students can get discounted drinks while they belt out their favorite tunes during karaoke at Bad Habits Music and Events.

Back-to-School Bash
Celebrate summer’s end at the Back-to-School Bash at the MLK Jr. Recreation Center on Wilson Street. The event will feature a DJ, food and door prizes. Before the festivities, students can receive free haircuts and enjoy carnival games.

Crash Course in Sewing 2.0
Head to The DIME Store in downtown Denton to create a reusable bag. Guests can learn how to sew a French seam, iron fabric for sewing, how to make straps and how to hem fabric. Participants are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines, but machines can be provided if needed.
Open mic night
Head to Bramblitt’s Yellow Dog Art Bar and Gallery for happy hour and open mic night. All kinds of performers, including musicians, comedians and poets, are welcome to take the stage.
Books on tap at Steve’s Wine Bar
Rant and rave about favorite books and least favorite books over a cocktail at Steve’s Wine Bar at Books on Tap. This event is for adults ages 21 and older.
Back to school karaoke
Ring in the new school year with karaoke at Bad Habits Music and Events. Guests with a college student ID can receive discounted drinks at the bar.
Two Tons of Steel at Dan’s Silverleaf
San Antonio country and rockabilly band Two Tons of Steel will perform at Dan’s Silverleaf in downtown Denton.
Pottery cheese tray workshop
Make a cheese tray at Wildflower Art Studio’s pottery workshop. The studio will provide all required materials along with coffee and snacks. Guests can pick up their trays 2-3 weeks after the workshop after they are fired in the kiln.
