The Denton mayoral race will head to a runoff race June 13 between Chris Watts and Brian Beck.
Unofficial results from Denton County Election Office website show all 220 precincts have reported, and Watts secured 44.22% with 5,389 votes cast for him. Beck received 34.02% of the votes with 4,146 votes.
Because neither candidate garnered at least 50% of the votes, a runoff race will be called between them.
Angela Brewer finished the race with 17.31% of the votes, or 2,110 ballots cast in her name. Shannon Childs secured 543 votes, or 4.46%.

Chris Watts has maintained his lead over Brian Beck, Angela Brewer and Shannon Childs for Denton mayor.
According to Denton County's election website, Watts earned 45.42% of the votes with 4,678 ballots cast in his favor. Beck secured 3,451 votes, or 33.5%, Brewer tallied 1,749 votes, or 16.98%, and Childs earned 422 votes, or 4.1%.

Unofficial results show Chris Watts is leading the mayoral race for the city of Denton.
According to the unofficial early voting totals released from the Denton County Elections Office website, Watts has secured 4,114 votes, or 45.59% of the votes tallied so far.

Brian Beck has netted 3,050 votes, or 33.8%, Angela Brewer earned 1,513 votes, or 16.77% of the votes cast, and Shannon Childs rounds out the mayoral candidates with 3.83% of the votes, or 346 ballots.
Overall, 6.45% of Denton County residents either turned out for early voting or mailed in a ballot, according to the county's election website. There are 578,734 registered voters in Denton County.
Denton’s current mayor, Gerard Hudspeth, cannot run for the position again since he has served three terms as mayor. The city’s regulations forbid council members and the mayor from serving for more than three consecutive terms in the same elected position. All council members and the mayor serve two-year terms.
