The Cole Ranch master-planned community broke ground in early June and The Renegade Apartments in downtown Denton are almost fully built out. Check out seven development updates around Denton. This list is not comprehensive.
Cole Ranch
Project: The Cole Ranch master-planned community will feature 4,365 single-family homes, 26 miles of trails, two lakes and 1,200 acres of green space, according to a news release from Johnson Development.
Update: Crews broke ground on the community in early June. The first phase of homes will be available for purchase in late 2027.
The Renegade Apartments
Project: The Renegade Apartments in downtown Denton will house 104 units with a clubhouse, study area, gym and pet recreation area, according to the developer’s website. Construction started in February 2025, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
Update: The building opened for rentals July 1, and 88 of the 104 units were completed as of early July, a company representative said.
Telecommunications tower
Project: Telecommunications company APC Towers will build a 105-foot telecommunications pole and a small technical support building near North Elm Street and Riney Road. City documents state the tower is designed to support up to 12 antennas.
Update: Denton City Council approved a specific use permit for the company to build the tower at a June 2 meeting.

Water reclamation plant
Project: The new Clear Creek Water Reclamation Plant will improve the city’s ability to treat wastewater and free up capacity at the Pecan Creek plant. It will include a grit removal system, odor control, ultraviolet disinfection and biological nutrient removal.
Update: The plant will enter the design phase this year. The city awarded a $45.53 million design contract at a June 16 meeting, and the design phase is scheduled to be completed in December 2028. After the design phase, construction will start in December 2028 and wrap up in December 2032, according to city documents.
Denton North Elm
Project: A community of town homes and an amenity center is under development on North Locust Street.
Update: City Council granted a noise exception to allow the builder, JPI, to pour concrete in early in the morning for the development’s parking lot. City documents state the project requires early morning concrete pours to avoid high temperatures.
Bridle Ridge
Project: Bridle Ridge will be a development with about 210 residential lots across 66 acres between Johnson Lane and Allred Road.
Update: The Denton Planning and Zoning Commission granted the development its final plat at an April 8 meeting, and the developer filed a construction permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in early June. Construction for utilities installation, paving and ground work is scheduled to start in September and wrap in December 2027. The development is a partnership between developers Dentex Land, Cattle and Energy, LP and Kimley-Horn.
Summit 35
Project: A new office complex called Summit 35 will have three buildings of general office space across six lots between North I-35 and North Elm Street.
Update: The Denton Planning and Zoning Commission awarded the plat to the sites. The developer filed three construction permits with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in mid-May for each building. The project, which totals $24 million for all three buildings, will start construction in August and complete in December 2027, the filing states. Summit 35 does not have a website but Kimley-Horn is managing the development.
