Arches set for summer installation over US 75 on Richardson’s Silver Line bridge

Six concrete columns have already been constructed on both sides of the bridge to support the arches. The installations will take place at night, with the south arch set to be installed June 4-7 and the north arch July 16-19.

Nighttime closures on US 75 and some frontage roads are planned for each four-night installation. Silver Line operations will also be shut down at US 75 during the nightly closures, and a bus bridge between stations will be used to maintain transit access, Herrig said.

After completion, blue and white lighting on the arches and columns is expected to improve nighttime visibility as well as highlight the architecture of the design.

Construction on DART’s planned 51-mile Cotton Belt Trail is also ongoing, Herrig said, including work on the 2.8 miles planned to pass through Richardson.

Construction in Richardson began in May 2025, with an initial focus on the University of Texas at Dallas area, the Spring Creek bridge and CityLine.

Three bridges are included in the trail plans, including a completed Spring Creek bridge near Alma Road. Custer Bridge and a second Spring Creek bridge east of US 75 are currently under construction.

Looking ahead

Herrig said the majority of the trail is expected to be complete by early next year, with Custer Bridge finishing up by the end of 2027.

DART also plans to build a bridge over Synergy Park Boulevard and Renner Road under a future phase of trail construction, Herrig said.

“The vision’s for a bridge to go over Synergy and Renner to create an uninterrupted path for trail users,” Herrig said.
