Richardson Fire Department opened the new Fire Station 3 on July 15 at 500 W. Lookout Drive. The 13,200-square-foot space, which is located across the street from the station's former building, allows for more trucks, equipment and personnel and includes an outdoor public art piece inspired by a vintage fire hose nozzle, according to a July 17 city newsletter. The new facility was necessitated by increased development and population in the station’s service area, per the newsletter. It is funded via the city's 2015 bond program. 972-744-5700. www.cor.net/departments/fire-department
