The Richardson Animal Shelter has reopened following 21 months of renovations, according to a news release from the city.

The gist

The shelter at 1330 Columbia Drive reopened Nov. 12 featuring a new main entrance, entry facade, storage rooms and expanded staff offices among other updates.

The shelter had been operating out of a temporary facility adjacent to the main building during the renovations.

Also featured is a new 10-foot cement sculpture installed from Texas artist Gigi Griffin Miller near the front entrance. The public art piece depicts several types of pets constructed from mosaic tiles.
