The Dream Cafe will soon expand to include an outdoor porch and patio at its Richardson location.

The planned expansion will add a wrap-around deck with more seating options and a two-sided bar to the existing dining space, owner Christine Lott said. The renovations are expected to be completed by December.

Some context

The Dream Cafe offers comfort food, with menu items like biscuits and gravy, sandwiches and eggs Benedict. Also on the menu are a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-friendly options.

Siblings Mary and Grady O’Brien opened the first Dream Cafe in 1985 in Uptown Dallas and eventually moved to its current location on McKinney Avenue. Lott expanded the concept to the Lakewood neighborhood in 2016 and opened the Richardson location last December, according to its website.

The cafe is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it's open for brunch on the weekends.
