Groundworks Dance Company moved into a new space in Richardson on July 18, director and owner Giovanni Allen said.

What you need to know

Groundworks offers dance training for students ages 10-to-18 in many different styles and the company also travels to dance competitions, Allen said.

“The mission of Groundworks is to grow the dancers as people as well as dancers,” Allen said. “It's to prepare those dancers that want to continue to the next stage in their career—whether it's to go to New York and train, or to get an agent or to find their local dance company here in Dallas.”

The background

Allen said that Groundworks had “outgrown" its previous location near the intersection of Jupiter Road and Arapaho Road. He added that the new space has helped them expand services.

“This honestly gives us a brand new beginning,” he said. "It's a company in the evening, we have a daytime program running now the past few weeks for ages 15-to-21 and now we also are opening up to rentals for photo shoots.”
