Construction along First Street in Prosper is nearing completion, and the roadway is expected to fully reopen later this week, according to a town social media post.

What you need to know

A traffic switch is planned for Aug. 8 to allow First Street to open in both directions between Stuber Elementary and Dallas North Tollway.

The new intersection at First Street and Legacy Drive will also open, with temporary traffic signals in place to help direct traffic, according to the post.

Some context

The improvements are a part of a larger project to expand First Street to a four-lane divided roadway stretching from Stuber Elementary to Dallas Parkway.

In June, Prosper Town Council members approved a contract to install both temporary and permanent traffic signals at the intersection, with the permanent signal expected to be in place by March 2026.

Looking ahead

Construction started in 2023 and is expected to wrap up in December.
