The contract, awarded to DDM Construction Corporation, includes $10.37 million for the paving and drainage work and an additional $500,000 for any potential construction contingencies, according to city documents.
The details
Senior Engineer Lindy Higginbotham said construction for the first phase of the project, which is from First Street to Prosper Trail, is expected to begin in late August or early September.
Higginbotham said this portion is the more complex of the two planned phases as it involves creek drainage improvements and extended sidewalks and trails near Raymond Community Park.
The full Coit Road improvement project—which stretches from First Street to Frontier Parkway and has a total construction budget of $24 million—is funded by Prosper’s 2020 bond program and a $2.8 million grant from Collin County, according to city documents.
Looking ahead
Phase 2 of the project, which covers the section from Prosper Trail to Frontier Parkway, is expected to go out for bid this fall.
Higginbotham said the town hopes to bring that contract to council in November or December and begin construction by early 2026.
“By January or February, the whole [project] will be under construction,” Higginbotham said.
One more thing
The council also approved a $239,028 contract with Geotex Engineering to handle construction materials testing and inspections for the Coit Road project.
