Prosper Town Council on June 24 approved a $691,566 contract with Mels Electric LLC to install both a temporary and permanent traffic signal at the intersection.
The details
The intersection is part of a larger road improvement project expanding First Street from Stuber Elementary School to Dallas Parkway, which is expected to be completed in December, according to the town’s capital improvement website.
While the temporary traffic signal is scheduled to finish in August, the installation of the permanent traffic signal is estimated to finish in March 2026, according to city documents.
Council approved the purchase of the permanent traffic signal materials in April, and their estimated delivery is in January 2026, with other components already on hand and set to be used in the temporary setup, according to city documents.
One more thing
The project will be funded using $283,330 remaining in the traffic signal construction budget and $417,100 in unallocated funds from the initial First Street expansion project.
