The commission’s recommendation was unanimous.
The details
If given final approval by City Council, Celina could get three new buildings dedicated to an assisted living facility on both sides of future Legacy Drive near future J Fred Smith Parkway.
The facility will sit on 9 acres of land that will need to be annexed into the city if the plans are approved by council.
Two three-story buildings with 142 units would go on the west side of Legacy Drive and include indoor and outdoor amenities. The east side of Legacy could have a two-story building with 55 units, as well as onsite staff for daily care and limited medical needs.
In 2022, people 65 and older made up 14% of Celina’s population, marking a nearly 8% increase since 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
What’s next?
The council will consider whether or not to approve the project at its meeting Nov. 11.
