Natural gas provider Atmos Energy applied for a rate adjustment in April that would increase customers’ natural gas bills.
Following the April application and a negotiation process, Celina City Council members approved the settlement at their Sept. 9 meeting, which lowered Atmos’ proposed revenue increase from $245.2 million to $205.6 million.
Despite the reduction, Atmos residential customers will see an average increase of $7.83 a month, and commercial customers will see an average increase of $25.73 a month.
Looking ahead
The new rates will go into effect Oct. 1, according to city documents.
