Celina officials broke ground on the new Wilson Creek Park park Sept. 3. Construction of the park is expected to cost $50 million.

The details

Wilson Creek Park will be about 100 acres located at the corner of the future Sunset Boulevard and Roseland Parkway.

It will include ball fields and pickleball courts, soft surface and concrete trails, playgrounds, a pavilion, nine-hole disc golf course, and more.

The park will be built in phases, with the first phase set to start in winter 2025. The first phase will include 30 acres, cost about $11.87 million and be completed in fall 2026.

Companies Dunaway and Dean Construction will take the lead on building the park.

“This project has been years in the making,” Mayor Ryan Tubbs said at the groundbreaking ceremony. “Today, we officially take the first step toward creating a space that will serve as a cornerstone for recreation, connection and community for generations to come.”

What else?

The new park will be part of the broader Parks at Wilson Creek development, a 720-acre master-planned community. In May, Celina City Council approved funding for the construction of 49 new homes in the development.
