Celina officials may add another 51 acres to the city limits for a new single-family neighborhood.

Celina Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously recommended approval of new zoning for 91 acres that will be the site of a neighborhood to be called Legacy Branch at a meeting Aug. 21.

The details

If approved by Celina City Council, the zoning will be changed from agricultural to a planned development district. The item will be presented at the next council meeting Sept. 9, according to city documents.

The development is set to include 320 single-family lots. It will also feature concrete trails and sidewalks and open space for amenities like fire pits, grills, seating areas and a dog park.

About 51 acres in the development sit outside of the city limits in Celina’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. This land would be annexed into the city per a development agreement that was approved by Celina City Council in 2024.

The agreement outlines the future annexation and zoning of the property.

What they’re saying

“The new neighborhood offers a mix of lot sizes, incorporates open space and amenities, and helps extend needed infrastructure in the area,” said Dusty McAfee, Celina's director of development services.
