Prosper could receive funding through a grant for crime prevention.

Prosper Town Council approved the application to Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority Catalytic Converter Task Force Grant.

The approval was part of its May 13 council consent agenda.

The Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority announced the application process opening for grant funding. The application deadline is May 23.


Town officials in their grant are looking to use the potential funds for:
  • Four Flock Trailers at $100,000
  • Traffic Analytics at $7,500
  • Vehicle Tracker subscription at $3,600
  • 16 Automated License Plate Recognition and 12 Cameras at $120,200
  • Flock 911 at $8,500
The Prosper Police Department also requested overtime at $112,000, and travel and training at $20,000.

The grant is for reimbursement. The Town will initially fund all personnel overtime, travel, training and equipment costs from the general fund, and MVCPA will reimburse 80% of eligible expenses upon approval.

Prosper has received grants from the MVCPA in the past. It received two grants from the 2024 and 2025 Catalytic Converter Task Force Grant, according to the May 13 agenda item.

The FY 2024 grant the town received was $99,166 and the FY 2025 grants received was $88,250. The grants were used for four flock trailers, traffic analytics, vehicle trackers and other Flock-related equipment.
