Celina City Council members are expected to formally call for a Dec. 9 special election to fill former Council Member Tony Griggs’ Place 6 vacancy.

The Sept. 28 meeting, slated to begin at 9 a.m., will be held in council’s regular meeting chambers at 112 N. Colorado St.

If the election date is approved by council, prospective candidates can begin submitting applications for a place on the ballot starting at 1 p.m. Sept. 28, according to a city news release.

The filing period will close Oct. 9 at 5 p.m., according to the news release. Ballot applications can be found here.
