Roma’s Italian Restaurant's owner, Trey Krasniqi, enjoys experimenting with flavors, which is why he decided to open a restaurant, General Manager Agon Zogaj said.

The restaurant opened in 2019 and serves traditional Italian food in Prosper.

“Trey loves food and experimenting with flavors,” Zogaj said. “He tries to improve everything every day. The best way to do that is to have your own restaurant. You can make your dishes the way you like it and experiment with everything else.”

The backstory

Zogaj, along with Krasniqi, is originally from Albania, which has similar cuisine as Italy, he said.

Roma’s is not Krasniqi’s first restaurant, said Zogaj, who is also Krasniqi’s brother-in-law. He previously owned Pete’s Bar and Grill in Garland and another restaurant called Roma’s in Kaufman. In addition, he plans to open a new restaurant with a similar menu in McKinney in late 2023 or early 2024.

“I don’t think he’ll stop,” Zogaj said. “Once he builds the McKinney one, he’ll probably build another one somewhere else. He loves what he’s doing.”

What’s special about it?

Zogaj said the Roma’s staff treats patrons like family, adding that he knows what most of the restaurant's regulars are likely to order.

“We know what they want,” Zogaj said. “We know how they like [their food].”

A popular menu item, Jordan’s Pizza, is named after one of the restaurant’s regular customers, Jordan Viars, a minor league baseball player that Zogaj expects to go pro.

What’s on the menu?

There are many popular dishes, Zogaj said, adding that bruschetta and stuffed mushrooms are the most popular appetizers, and the lasagna and baked ziti are the most popular entrees.

“The one that is ordered the most is the Roma’s Spicy Chicken and Shrimp,” Zogaj said, adding that the dish is served with chicken, shrimp, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and onions with Alfredo over penne.

For diners who have never eaten at Roma’s, Zogaj recommends the Roma’s Combo, a portion of chicken parmigiana, cheese ravioli and fettuccine Alfredo or the tortellini alla panna, cheese tortellini served with pink sauce.
