The 573,300-square-foot development will be located at the southwest corner of Frontier Parkway and Dallas Parkway and will be built in two phases.
The details
At their Aug. 19 meeting, Prosper Planning and Zoning Commissioners approved a preliminary site plan for a Medical City location in Prosper.
Construction will begin with a free-standing emergency room, followed by the main hospital and two medical office buildings totaling 60,000 square feet, according to town documents.
Medical City Healthcare said in a statement to Community Impact it often acquires land in advance to prepare for future development opportunities.
“As North Texas continues its dynamic growth, Medical City Healthcare proactively positions in this way to ensure we can meet the region’s evolving healthcare needs,” according to the statement.
Ross Lucas, an engineer representing Medical City Healthcare, said current plans include building a road behind the new H-E-B that would connect to a gravel lot near Frontier Park.
Another viewpoint
Nearby resident Britney Stephens said she had concerns about traffic, especially during park events, as the area is already congested and a large hospital would add to that traffic.
“It’s already becoming extremely congested around H-E-B, and I’m really concerned how congested it would become with a hospital that’s four stories and over 400,000 square feet,” Stephens said.
One more thing
The new location will mark Prosper’s first hospital, with Methodist Celina Medical Center being residents’ closest hospital after it opened in March.
