The details
The home improvement store announced it was opening two new stores in Texas including the one in Celina because it is among the fastest-growing cities in teh U.S., according to a Jan. 6 Lowe's news release. The other store is opening in Manvel.
The Celina store will be about 94,000 square feet of retail space, 30,000 square feet of outdoor garden space and it will employee more than 100 people.
The store will feature Lowe's new self-service paint kiosks and the Buy Online Pick Up In-Store Zones, according to the release.
"Service is at the core of everything we do here at Lowe’s and solving problems and helping customers across their journey is our mandate," said Lowe’s South Division President Joel Cogdell, in a news release. "Whether that’s helping a family settle into their new home or helping a Pro get everything they need for their project, we are excited to open stores in these communities and begin providing the value and exceptional service Lowe's is known for."
The background
The store opening comes after Celina City Council members approved performance-based incentive agreement between the city, Celina Econmic Development Corporation and Lowe's Home Centers LLC in September 2024.
There is a $1.8 million limit on the reimbursement, which is split between the CEDC and the city, CEDC Director Anthony Satarino said during the September meeting. To receive the incentives outlined in the performance agreement, the developer must close on the property Feb. 28, 2025 and obtain a certificate of occupancy by March 31, 2027.
