Newly named Plano ISD Senior High School athletic director and head football coach Cody Moore has reconsidered his position, the district announced in a news release March 4.

Moore was approved and presented as district personnel at a board meeting March 3, where he spoke to board members, staff and student-athletes in the crowd.

“It’s an absolute privilege to be a part of this school district... ” Moore said at the meeting. “I’m excited to embrace and learn about the history and the tradition that goes along with this job.”

In the news release a day later, Moore said he apologized for the timing but has decided to continue coaching in Denton.

Moore is in his fifth year as athletic coordinator and head football coach at Braswell High School in Denton ISD. He has built the school’s football program since it opened its doors, according to a March 3 release from PISD.

“While we are disappointed, we are respectful of Coach Moore’s decision, which he feels is in the best interest of his family,” PISD athletic director Jeff Smith said in the March 4 release.

Smith will work with Plano Senior High during the transitional period, according to the district, and Plano ISD will fill the position as soon as possible.
