The city of Plano will replace nearly 3,000 feet of screening wall, sidewalk and alley pavement along both sides of Independence Parkway.

The project will cost around $1.9 million, according to city documents. Council approved the project amount at its Feb. 14 meeting.

Funding will come out of the city’s community investment program, which monitors infrastructure needs across Plano, according to the city’s website. Planning documents show the project will span Independence Parkway from Lanarc Drive to Loch Haven Drive.

The planning documents stated that the project was needed to make sure neighborhood infrastructure in the area does not “deteriorate leading to increased future maintenance costs and a reduction in the quality of life for residents.”

Officials did not say whether construction would affect traffic alongside the roadway nor was a timeline given for the project. More info about the city’s infrastructure improvement projects can be seen on its website.
