Amid the designer shoes, European suits and eclectic artwork seen upon entering Klik & Mortar, a red-white-and-blue guitar is centrally displayed with the signature of country artist Willie Nelson scrawled across its base.

According to the store’s owner, Mike Zack, new guests who enter the shop in the Preston Park Village shopping center often ask “What do you sell here?” The answer, Zack said, is a bit complicated. Klik & Mortar has been owned and operated by Zack under different names in Plano since the late 1990s. He said it started as a men’s luxury clothing store before eventually adding women’s products. Now the shop has a little bit of everything, Zack said.

After moving to the store’s current space, Zack said he began buying and selling various types of products through consignment sales. However, Zack said he does not do consignment sales like some other companies that only pay the seller part of the proceeds if the item is purchased.

“You come to me and you say, ‘Hey, I want $50 for this sweater,’” he said. “Now it doesn’t make a difference [what] I sell it for ... you get your $50. That’s a fair way to do it.”

In addition to luxury clothing items, Klik & Mortar is now filled with art, furniture, instruments, sports equipment and more.

“This store is a little different, and it always changes,” Zack said. “[For] some people it’s overwhelming when they walk in, but you have to look around.”

Zack said he is still fond of the buying and selling part of the business but above all appreciates the friendships he has made with long-term customers.

“I like people. [Customers] become my friends,” Zack said. “It’s not like I am trying to sell them.”

Klik & Mortar also offers custom suits, shirts, tailoring services and many other requests a customer might have, Zack said.

“We kind of do whatever you need; it is a one-stop shop,” he said. “I’m a little bit crazy, so it changes all the time.”
