Small Business Saturday, which is intended to promote shopping at local retailers and keep spending within the community, takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The day was started by American Express in 2010 to draw attention to small and family-owned businesses on the busiest shopping weekend of the year, said Small Business Saturday spokeswomen Nicole Reyhle.
Here are some Downtown Plano businesses participating in Small Business Saturday:
La Foofaraw will have a 20 percent storewide sale with a couple exclusions. The home design store sells candles, vintage jewelry, furniture, art and more. Located at 1008 E. 15
th St., the boutique will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday.
The Feathered Nest will be participating in Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26.[/caption]
With the purchase of $75 or more at
The Feathered Nest, shoppers will receive a free leather ring with a freshwater pearl. Located at 1018 E. 15
th St., The Feathered Nest offers clothing, jewelry and home decor. The retailer will be open Saturday from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Magaly Designs at 1033 E. 15
th St. will offer 50 percent off earrings and jewelry sets less than $25. Jewelry sets include bracelet and earrings or necklace and earrings. The handcrafted jewelry store will be open from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Pipe & Palette, 1012 E. 15th St., will be open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday with a variety of handmade goods on sale for 10-60 percent off. Pipe & Palette will also offer 15 percent off classes and private parties booked on Saturday, a pottery class from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. ($30 each) and a come-and-go family pain night from 5:30-8 p.m. ($15 each).
