The filing period for the upcoming Plano City Council and Plano ISD board of trustees elections will begin Jan. 18. Those interested in running for one of four council places or three school board places will have until Feb. 17 to file for a place on the ballot.

Places 1, 3, 5 and 7 will all be on the ballot for City Council. Those places are held by Maria Tu, Rick Grady, Shelby Williams and Julie Holmer, respectively. Grady will reach his term limit this year.

Candidates running for places 1 and 3 must live in the corresponding districts, which can be found on the city’s district map.

Places 4, 5 and 7 will be on the ballot for the PISD board of trustees. Those places are held by Heather Wang, David Stolle and Cody Weaver, respectively. Stolle is serving as the board's president.

The general election will be held May 6 with early voting beginning April 24. April 6 is the last day to register to vote in this election.
