What you need to know
The school zone on Legacy just north of the campuses will no longer be in effect during elementary times, while the zone on Coit Road near its intersection with Denham Way will now serve Gulledge students, according to city documents.
The updated school zones will now run at the following times:
- Coit Road, 7-8:45 a.m. and 2:30-4:15 p.m.
- Legacy Drive, 7:35-9:15 a.m. and 3:30-4:55 p.m.
The background
Plano City Council approved the ordinance Sept. 8 due to changes in Plano ISD’s bus service and attendance boundaries, according to city documents.
PISD updated its hazardous roadway policy, which provides bussing to students who live within 2 miles of their campus if they need to cross what is deemed a hazardous roadway, prior to the 2025-26 school year. Gulledge Elementary students living within 2 miles of campus but east of Coit Road no longer receive bus service, so the Coit school zone, which previously only served Robinson students, now serves Gulledge students.
City staff also found that Gulledge’s attendance boundary is now south of Legacy Drive, so the school zone was updated to only serve middle and high school students.
