Reconstruction work on Virginia Parkway is expected to start in April after crews finished work on Eldorado Parkway earlier this year.
Work will be completed in segments along Virginia Parkway similar to how Eldorado Parkway was reconstructed. The $10.3 million project is expected to finish in late 2026, Capital Improvement Program Manager Blake Sills said

Upcoming projects
1. Infrastructure improvements along Tennessee, Lamar, and Hunt streets
Project: Reconstruction of Tennessee Street between Virginia and Lamar streets, Lamar Street between Church Street and SH 5, and Hunt Street between Kentucky Street and SH 5. The project includes waterline, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, illumination, hardscape and landscape improvements.
Update: Design is 90% complete, and officials expect to bid the project in fall 2026.

2. East Virginia Street improvements
Project: Reconstruction of East Virginia Street between Murray Street and Airport Drive. The project will include a new alignment and connection to Airport Drive and a new roundabout at the intersection of Virginia Street and Lively Hill Lane. The project includes waterline, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, illumination, hardscape and landscape improvements.
Update: Design is 90% complete, and officials expect to bid the project in late 2026.

3. Infrastructure improvements on College, Hunt, Davis and Church streets
Project: Reconstruction of existing waterlines, sanitary sewer, drainage infrastructure, and street pavement on select sections of College, Hunt, Davis and Church streets.
Update: Design is complete. Right-of-way and easement acquisitions are underway, and franchise utilities are expected to start within the next few weeks. Officials expect to bid the project this summer. This project will be combined with infrastructure improvements on Church, Henry and McKinney streets into a single bid project.

4. Infrastructure improvements on Church, Henry and McKinney streets
Project: Reconstruction of existing waterlines, sanitary sewer, drainage infrastructure, and street pavement on select sections of Church, Davis, Henry, McKinney and Wood streets.
Update: Design is complete. Right-of-way and easement acquisitions are underway, and franchise utilities are expected to start within the next few weeks. Ongoing projects
5. Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway rehabilitation
Project: Reconstruction of failing concrete panels and broken curbs along Eldorado Parkway between Ridge Road and US 75, and Virginia Parkway between Stonebridge Drive and US 75.
Update: Panel replacement work has been completed on Eldorado Parkway. Construction on Virginia Parkway will start in April.

6. Medical Center Drive improvements
Project: Reconstruction and widening of Medical Center Drive between Frisco Road and Spur 399 as a four-lane divided roadway. The road is currently three lanes, undivided.
Update: Construction is underway as of January 2026. The contractor has removed the existing pavement on the roadway’s southbound side. Traffic has been shifted to the northbound side. Paving operations are underway on the southbound half of the roadway.
